Placement Procedures
- A completed registration form and payment must be received before
a participant is placed in a Homestay. Note for International
students, all documents and placement fee should be received at
least 60 days before arrival to guarantee Homestay placement.
- Placements will be made based on information provided in the
registration package and family availability.
- All Homestay families are visited and carefully checked.
- The participant will receive a Family Profile (description of
family members, occupations, description of neighborhood). This
may take up to three weeks especially in the summer months. For
legal reasons, this profile will not include specific racial,
religious or cultural information. The participant is encouraged
to contact the family before arriving in order to get to know
a little about the family.
- The host family or a Nacel staff will meet the participant upon
arrival at the airport, if transfer is requested.
Counseling
The Homestay coordinator who placed you with your host family will
look forward to hearing from you. It is important that you and the
Nacel team WORK TOGETHER toward the goal of a successful experience
for everyone. Should a problem situation emerge between the participant
and the host families, call the Homestay Coordinator without delay.
The Homestay Coordinator will attempt to provide mutually acceptable
solutions. The Homestay Coordinator is available for counseling
during regular hours or after hours in the case of emergencies.
The participant should never leave or change their Homestay family
before contacting the Homestay Coordinator. Nacel's main goal is
to ensure that the Homestay experience is fulfilling and rewarding
for both the participant and the family. |
